Elise was born in Paris in 1969. She studied interior design and attended the Boulle School of Applied Arts in Paris (here) as well as apprenticed at Bartolozzi e Maioli, (here) a renowned Florentine artisan workshop that preserves the beauty of the Italian aesthetic. Elise owned an antique shop in Marais where she sold Italian antiques, curiosities and cartapesta (paper mache). In 2001, she and her husband Laurent left Paris and opened a studio near Saint-Remy in Provence. It is there her interest in creating cartapesta intensified and shortly after she began selling her creations at the international antiques fair in Avignon.
Elise creates in both the baroque as well as contemporary style and her mediums include polychrome, gold leaf, pastels, paper, wax, linen, glass, plaster and 3D fiber art. Laurent is a wood sculptor using 18th and 19th century wood to create unique pieces. Laurent is also skilled in the art of marquetry and attended Ecole Boulle in Paris.
Elise is a master of interior design and furniture design and restoration.
