A Home With French Flair

This lovely home is for sale in the French Quarter of New Orleans.  The famous French Market and Irene's Cuisine are only a short stroll away.

The facade is classic New Orleans with wrought iron balconies and long shutters to close against the afternoon heat. The window boxes must be gorgeous filled with lots of vibrant color and fresh greenery.  Imagine walking out the door and being in the heart of the French Quarter!  I am certain I would fast go broke shopping all the antique stores I would find impossible to resist.

I love hidden courtyards. The three-tier fountain serves as a cool hideaway from the blistering sun and wet heat of New Orleans.

The open living space is stunning with long french doors opening to a balcony running along the front of the home.  The room is filled with sunlight echoed in the cheerful wall color.  A beamed ceiling adds another element of character to this already fabulous room.

The kitchen is tiny but very charming with a fireplace and exposed brick walls.

An interesting metal chandelier, wood furnishings and carefully styled accessories further enhance the marvelous architectural details.

The kitchen opens into a salon with a matching fireplace. I love the dividing  console used here which still leaves the room feeling very open.

A graceful staircase leads to two large bedrooms and baths.

The brick has not been painted upstairs. The peaceful and restrained decor perfectly compliments the spareness of the room.

The second bedroom is equally spacious and full of character.  The mirrored headboard makes an interesting change from the ordinary.

A wonderful spot overlooking the action to enjoy a cafe au lait and beignet!
